Abstract
This study was based on primary data and focused on measuring the economic contribution of student startups in terms of investment, income, and employment generation. For this purpose, data were collected from 106 student startups operating under the Startup India scheme in the state of Haryana, India. The analysis revealed that student startups were active in 21 sectors and were contributing to the economic development of the state, with an average investment of ?1.8 lakh, an average income of ?3.8 lakh per annum, and an average employment of 4.2 persons per startup. However, there was a prominent gender gap in the number of startups and their economic contributions. The study found a significant role of incubation centres in nurturing and promoting startups.
