Abstract
This study presented both a bibliometric analysis and a detailed review of research in the domain of aquaculture economics. The results showed a steady increase in publications with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.63 per cent and strong author collaboration. Asia produced the most publications, with Bangladesh as the most represented country. The most preferred publication journals were Aquaculture Economics and Management, Aquaculture, and Aquaculture International. Pond-based production systems and monoculture practices dominated the literature. Among economic indicators, the benefit-cost ratio (BCR) was most frequently used to evaluate financial viability. Field-setting research was the most commonly adopted approach, followed by laboratory and simulation-based approaches. Overall, this study offered a structured overview of key themes and research trends in aquaculture production economics, providing useful insights for researchers and practitioners.
