The study attempted to find the socio-economic determinants of employment in MGNREGA in district Budgam of J&K. The study revealed that age, gender, and socioeconomic status of a worker significantly determined employment in the scheme. The results also showed that MGNREGA targets the economically weaker sections of society. Improved worksite facilities, peace and stability in the region can increase the employment generation in the programme.
