Global demand for millets is anticipated to increase due to their vital role in sustainable food and nutritional security. India, the world's largest millet producer, has substantial potential to enhance its exports. This study investigated the current status and primary destinations of India's millet exports, employing the ARIMA-TDNN model to forecast monthly export trends. Currently, most millet exports were directed toward Gulf and African countries, while minor millets are gaining traction in the USA and Europe. However, the major export destinations do not offer optimal unit value returns. To maximize profitability and boost millet cultivation, India should target markets with higher unit value realizations. The monthly export forecast indicates a relatively stable trend through mid-2024, which could be further improved by implementing targeted export promotion strategies.
