Abstract

The study was conducted in cooperative milk shed of Sirsa district in Haryana to estimate marketed surplus of milk and the factors affecting it. The results revealed that marketed surplus was 88 per cent at the overall level. The contribution of crossbred in milk production was found to be highest followed by buffalo and local cows. The share of small and medium herd categories was found to be higher as compared to large sized herd. The highest marketed surplus was found for large herd size category (91.14 per cent) followed by medium herd size category and small sized herd. The factors affecting marketed surplus were found to herd size, price of milk and distance from society, which had a positive and significant relationship with the marketed surplus.
